History
Barge Terminal Trucking, Inc. (BTT) was started in 1984 by John (Jack) Edmier, James Edmier, and Gerald Adams. The Edmier brothers worked for their family business known as "Edmier, Inc." since 1958, and many years prior in various capacities. In late August of 1984, BTT took delivery of 12 new Mack tractors and 12 new dump trailers. These 12 units coupled with their existing fleet of 4 trucks were the core of the business for the first few years. The Edmier brothers were assisted by James's son, Robert (Bob), from the startup. In 1992, business increased and so did our fleet with a total of 45 units in the late '90s. In 1994, Jack's son Thomas (Tom) joined the business.
To date, the company currently owns and operates 20 units along with access to 30+ contract carriers.
We opened our doors in 1984 we leased property from the Illinois Department of Transportation. In early 2004, we were given notice that our lease would not be renewed. After an extensive search of the western and southwestern suburbs, we relocated to our present property at 115 Kirkland Circle in Oswego. We contacted and contracted our customers and built our 10,600 square foot facility, moving in on March 1, 2005
